BEFORE THE FIRST VISIT (return to top)
May we make the following suggestions to make your child’s first visit to Asheville Pediatric Dentistry a great one?
- Tell your child that Dr. Jackson will be gentle and friendly and will count their teeth.
- Please do not tell your child that the dentist will not hurt, as this may never have entered their mind. Please do not use words such as needle, shots, drill or other words suggesting unpleasantness.
- Expect your child to do well and enjoy the first visit to our office and chances are they will!
The initial appointment is reserved specifically for your child. Any change in this appointment affects many patients. If a cancellation is unavoidable, please call the office at least 24 hours in advance so that we may give that time to another patient.
Please complete the health history form and bring it with you to the first appointment.

THE FIRST VISIT (return to top)
We will review the Health History Form with you at the first visit. At that time, you and your child will be introduced to our dental team.
Parents are welcome to accompany their child during their visit. This gives you an opportunity to see us working with your child and allows Dr. Jackson to discuss dental findings and treatment needs directly with you. While we are interacting with your child, please assume the role of a silent observer. If more than one person is talking, your child may become confused. Siblings are encouraged to remain in the reception room.
Dr. Jackson will perform a head and neck examination and evaluate the health of the teeth and gums. Radiographs (x-rays) are taken only as Dr. Jackson feels they are necessary. If no treatment is needed, the teeth will be cleaned and fluoride applied to the teeth. Additional services will be scheduled for a later visit.
Please contact our office if you have questions regarding payment or dental insurance.
PATIENT COMMENTS (return to top)
***"Our girls started out roughly introduced into the dental community in a pediatric dentist's practice that was shockingly unkind to three year old little girls. Then we were fortunate to be told about the pediatric dental program at UNC where we were introduced to Dr Jackson, our hero in a white coat. She made all the difference in our girls' dentist experience. In fact, so much so, that on a regular basis our home is turned into a dentist's office where our girls take turns pretending to be their favorite dentist - Dr Jenny Jackson - and care for their baby dolls' dental needs with loving attention. We are so grateful for Dr Jackson's gentle care of our girls' needs. Thank you Dr Jackson!"

***"Since early 2003, Dr. Jenny Jackson has worked with my daughter, Autumn. Dr. Jackson has done a great job with Autumn. At age 2 Autumn had a root canal done by another dentist. It was a bad experience. Afterwards she was terrified of the dentist, just the word would upset her. She couldn't open or stop crying when at a dentist's office. Since Dr. Jackson has cared for Autumn, thanks to the patient and kind ways that Dr. Jackson has, Autumn relaxed and gained her trust back. Now she looks forward to her dental check-ups which are good, and she has learned how to care for her teeth. Dr. Jackson is very good with children and a fine dentist. Thank you Dr. Jackson!
